Pehredaar Piya ki serial which has been facing controversies so far is now finally put into the cold box by the Sony Entertainment television. The show has been quite often with coming into the headlines due to its objectionable content showing a kid following and stalking a grown woman and also showing some love or marriage angle in-between. Numerous celebrities and audiences were determined for the action taking against the show. Now again it comes into the headline that after the intervening into the matter by Ministry of Information & broadcasting which is led by Smriti Irani. This hasn’t been happened earlier ever before that government need to ban or restrict some television serial.
The Sony entertainment channel’s official statement says “Effective 28th August 2017, we are pulling off our programme, Pehredaar Piya Ki, from television. While we understand that the decision to end this serial will be disappointing to those whose creative energies are vested in it, namely, its crew and cast, we (as a channel) are convinced that we will be better served by focusing instead on developing viewer interest in our upcoming, new shows. We are grateful to all the artists, producers and fans of our shows and request you to graciously support the viewership of our newer ventures.”But the producers or the production banner itself behind the making of the serial, the Shashi & Sumeet said while press conference “Most of the people who are signing the petition have no clue about the show. They proudly claim they don’t watch TV. When you haven’t seen the show, how can you judge it? We have not shown anything objectionable. As traditional people ourselves, we know our boundaries. There is a sweet platonic relationship between the boy and girl, and that nowhere is against the society.”
